In this third-person stealth-em-up from the people that brought us Ms. Croft, you are thrust into a conspiracy where the hunter soon becomes the hunted and you'll need all your deadly skills and lethal equipment to come out of it breathing.
He's bad, he's bald and he's back. Yes folks the genetically modified assassin known only as 47 that did so well on the PC has returned, bringing the silent but violent world of the international hitman to PlayStation 2. Keep to the shadows, move without sound and kill without trace if you hope to complete your assignment in one piece. In this third-person stealth-em-up from the people that brought us Ms. Croft, you are thrust into a conspiracy where the hunter soon becomes the hunted and you'll need all your deadly skills and lethal equipment to come out of it breathing.
The plot of Hitman 2 finds you (as 47) in early retirement in a Sicilian monastery. When the charitable Abbot is kidnapped by the local Mafia it's time for you to dust off your nine millimetres and re-enter active murdering. To help you track down the Abbott the shadowy Agency acts as your business arrangers and intel gatherers as well as badgering you into taking extra missions on the side, in return for tit-bits on the missing monk. The good news is that this means you get travel the world, meet interesting people and garrotte them.
Although you'd think your chosen occupation may get quite repetitive - go there kill that - in reality the Agency jobs you are sent on vary greatly. You'll be called upon to undertake wet-jobs from patience testing stake-outs to nail-biting infiltration missions, of course they all end in someone going home in a pine box. Another perk of your job is that you get to travel. You'll be packing your bags for such varied destinations as St. Petersburg, Japan and India, each with their own architecture, language and heavily armed police force.
For each mission you'll need to select the right tools for the job from your shed o'death. This DIY garden structure contains all the weapons you have been issued or stolen and handy silhouettes on the wall show what you are missing. You'll need to read the mission brief carefully and decide how you will approach the hit. Do you sit atop a building miles from the target with the sniper rifle or crossbow, or do you get close enough to taste the blood with the silenced pistol or fiber wire garrotte? Choose wisely though because the enemies are extremely intelligent and very deadly and you are just one man, not Schwarzenegger.
Hitman 2 sneaks up behind you and drags you into the absorbing world of a professional assassin who's often on the wrong end of a rifle scope. With (literally) a shed-full of weapons to choose from, intelligent enemies and versatile gameplay that allows you to tackle hits how you want, 47's latest adventures are sure to attract intelligent gamers looking for a challenge. Solid Snake watch out, there's a new slippery customer in town and this one doesn't have a mullet.
