The Tale of the Templars

Story

The Tale of the Templars

1499 - Rome is merely a shadow of its former self, a crumbling metropolis plagued by the powerful Templar Order and ruled by the cruel Borgia family and their followers.

Meanwhile, in 2012, Desmond Miles continues to contact his ancestors through the Animus, and has travelled to Monteriggioni to investigate the life of Ezio Auditore Da Firenze even further. Desmond and his fellow modern-day assassins must restore electricity in the destroyed Villa Auditore and use it as their new hideout in which to base their investigation.

Picking up where its predecessor, Assassin's Creed II, left off, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood takes Ezio to the Italian capital to rebuild a city filled with greed and corruption. Monteriggioni, the city that players worked so hard to restore in Assassin's Creed II, is in ruins after an attack by Cesare Borgia and his army. The city walls have been torn down and Ezio's uncle, Mario Auditore, has been brutally murdered.

Ezio flees the ravaged Monteriggioni and travels to Rome, the heart of the Templar Order. Here he must restore the Assassin Brotherhood and take down not only the Templars, but also destroy his new arch-enemy, Cesare Borgia.

Rome wasn't built in a day

Presentation

Rome wasn't built in a day

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood has you skilfully scaling medieval buildings and launching yourself seamlessly between rooftops to evade capture and locate challenges. However, this time, your enemies are increasingly deadly and the environment, packed with mission-based challenges, is much more vast.

As you explore your surroundings with the help of your expert climbing skills and detailed map, you will experience a detailed and accurately recreated city, coupled with a storyline influenced by real historical events. Climbing to the top of Borgia towers and huge ancient buildings will not only allow you to complete challenges, but also provide you with an extensive view of this impressive and picturesque setting.

Ezio has an almost regal appearance in his pristine robes and immaculate armoury and coupled with the rich, luscious environment of Renaissance Rome, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood's compelling, vibrant feel will impress from start to finish.

Summon your Brotherhood

Gameplay

Summon your Brotherhood

As in its prequels, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood tasks you with synchronizing the memories of assassin Desmond Miles with those of his medieval ancestors. Once again Desmond's mind corresponds with Ezio Auditore Da Firenze - but this time, Ezio is not alone.

You must restore Rome and relieve its residents of the oppression they face by eliminating the tyrannical Borgia family, ending their rule over the city. Guards roam the streets and defend their towers, armed with deadly weapons and shelled in solid armour.

As a Master Assassin, you must summon other assassins and train them to form a lethal Brotherhood and overthrow the notorious Borgias and their savage minions. Recruit, tutor and assign missions to your fellow assassins and call upon them to fight with you in larger battles with the enemy.

Ezio is still equipped with his cunning Eagle vision, enabling him to see loot, weapons and secret passageways to other areas of the city. It's also a good way to check out any enemies that lurk nearby, constantly on the hunt for deadly assassins.

Defeat the Borgias to strengthen your Brotherhood, and simultaneously help Rome break free from the grip of tyranny. Money will renew shops and businesses to increase the city's income, and can be acquired by robbing civilians or looting the bodies of fallen rivals. Looting is also a great way to earn new weapons, armour and medicine, along with items that can be sold back to renewed businesses for hard cash.

Hunt or be hunted

Multiplayer

Hunt or be hunted

For the first time in the Assassin's Creed series, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood features an online multiplayer mode via PlayStation Network. The primary multiplayer mode is Wanted mode; a tricky affair with the emphasis on kill or be killed. You will be assigned a target and while hunting down your prey, you must also be aware of the other assassins assigned to kill you.

Make sure you are stealthy and sneaky - picking out the wrong target will reveal you to your enemies and make you as vulnerable as your victim. Try to prowl the streets undetected, draw no attention to yourself and stay alert - the actions of those around you could blow the cover of a lurking assassin ready to go in for the kill.

The multiplayer experience also allows you to gain special abilities, which can be upgraded as you progress. Sneak up on enemies with a disguise, perform invisible kills by poisoning your rivals or choke them by hurling a smoke bomb in their direction before making a swift exit. You will also have the chance to explore other historical places such as Siena and Castel Gandalfo, and take on the role of other characters, such as The Executioner and The Doctor. Sign in to PlayStation Network today and skulk into the online multiplayer action - assassin style.
