Find out how the Helghast and a clutch of familiar PlayStation heroes kept the PlayStation Community occupied in March 2011.
Know your enemy in Killzone 3
The official PlayStation Forums offered players the ultimate online gaming experience with Killzone 3 in March 2011. Members not only got to know their enemies, they shared tips, trained intensively with their local clans and showed no mercy in fiercely competitive online matches via PlayStation Network.
With so many friendly melees going on, Aryeh Loeb, producer at Guerrilla Games, stepped into the fray on PlayStation.com to answer questions from the PlayStation Community about the mighty Killzone 3 in The People vs Killzone 3.
Heroes one and all
Back in PlayStation Home, a treasure hunt, a poker tournament, a photostory and a PlayStation Move Heroes competition gave users the chance to transform their PlayStation Home avatar into real PlayStation Community heroes.
On the gaming front, PlayStation Community members had the chance to prove their hero status in a raft of official Gran Turismo 5 tournaments and vintage cup match-ups, as well as the first MotorStorm Apocalypse split screen races.
Have your say in the Gamocracy
In April 2011, the PlayStation Community will make its final contributions to The Bearded Ladies Consulting's Gamocracy project. Since February 2011, the Swedish developer has enlisted the help of the PlayStation Community in creating their latest game.
There have been some outstanding contributions, not least from Russian member Mushroom177 who supplied the winning ideas in weeks 4 and 5. Each week the best suggestions are posted at www.facebook.com/TheBeardedLadies where a public vote decides which one is used in the final game. If you haven't joined in yet, head over to the official PlayStation Forums and make your opinion count.
Black Ops DLC
The first Black Ops downloadable content, Call of Duty: Black Ops First Strike, released at the start of March, and Call of Duty fans were worked into frenzy with five new maps and a new zombie experience made available via PlayStation Store. The community took full advantage of the new DLC with plenty of online action taking place along with mini community-created challenges to test their skills against other players online.
PlayStation Tsunami Appeal
The Australian and New Zealand PlayStation Community dug deep and generously donated what they could to support the Japan Tsunami Appeal on PlayStation Store. 100 per cent of all donations will go to the British Red Cross, part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. As a thank you, everyone who makes a donation will be able to download the Sunrise Blossom theme from PlayStation Store for free.
PS3 turns 4
23rd of March 2011 and 4 years on since the release of the now iconic PS3 60GB, the community celebrated with posts, pictures and online events with launch titles to get back to where PlayStation 3's journey began. We also round up the finest ground shakers and mould breakers from the first four years of PS3 in 10 of the Best: PS3 Originals.
And there's more...
April 2011 will be a month of PlayStation April Fool's gags, LittleBigMap challenges, SOCOM: Special Forces events, Easter egg hunts and more.
