Patapon 3 artist Rolito answers questions from PlayStation fans about his latest masterpiece on PSP.
Who created the music for this amazing game? (Ghost72Toss)
The music was created by Kemmei-san, a very talented musician. His music gives a particular flavour to the Patapon universe.
Why did you decide upon the name Patapon? Where did that come from? (Remichiroix)
The name Patapon came from an old children's song my mother sang for me. I proposed that name to the Patapon team, and they were happy because it fitted in very well with the drumbeat theme.
What do you think is the most unique aspect of Patapon 3? (Rockywoman)
I think it's the perfect mixture of music, gameplay and design.
What was the most difficult part of Patapon 3 to design? (AzedX)
To transform my lovely little ideas into powerful superheroes! To be honest, designing a game with my own graphic universe is a dream.
As an artist, which Patapon do you like to draw the most or find most appealing? (Snella)
The original one, in black and white. It's made of very simple shapes but the character has lots of personality. I also like the bad guys very much.
What is your favourite type of Patapon? (Zelmium)
The archers, because they were the first armoured Patapon I drew. But I love them all - I don't want to make any of them jealous!
What inspired the idea of rhythmic controls? (Flashroyaldeluxe)
Patapon is based on my website, Rolitoland.com, where the music is prominent. The fact that Patapon is based on rhythmic controls seemed evident for all the team. This idea came from the fertile imagination of Kotani-san and the Pyramid team.
How many rhythmic button combinations are there in the game? (d1capo)
There are ten rhythmic button combinations in Patapon 3.
Patapon has a simple but nice design, how were you inspired? (Clominon)
Some of my inspiration comes from pre-Columbian and primitive arts. It's a mix of a lot of influences from comics to mythology with simple shapes. Simple, cute and weird.
Thanks to Rolito for his insightful responses and everyone who submitted their questions.
