Fight smart in the Battlefield 3 Open Beta with this advice from developer DICE.

Get ready for Operation Métro, a daring assault on enemy positions in an urban sprawl designed to resemble Paris. It's part of the Battlefield 3 Open Beta, and when you download it to PlayStation 3 from PlayStation Store, you'll need to know your objectives and who you're aiming at before you can even think about getting through it in one piece.

Think on your feet and you might just stand a chance. The varied environments you'll encounter in Operation Métro - dangerous open ground, claustrophobic tunnels and blind alleys - require flexible tactics.

Luckily, this exclusive intel on Operation Métro from developer DICE will help you when you hit the streets. Use it or lose out in the ferocious Battlefield 3 Open Beta.

Strength in numbers

Stick with your teammates, and remember to spawn into battle near their positions to stay close to the fight.

Skills for the job

Use your equipment and specific abilities to help your squad. The Assault class of soldier can hand out med kits, Engineers can repair vehicles, and Support teammates can hand out ammo.

Target down

After arming explosives on M-COM (Military Communications) stations, make sure that you defend them to prevent enemies sneaking in to defuse them. You shouldn't plant bombs then simply move on.

Dazzled and confused

The bombed-out tunnel section in Operation Métro is an excellent place to use a torch as one of your weapon attachments. Use it to light the tunnels up - and to blind your enemies.

A steadying influence

Attach a bipod to your weapon and deploy it automatically by pushing up against cover or lying down and zooming in - this gives you a huge increase in accuracy and stability.

Demolition man

Watch out for falling debris, as this can hurt you. You can also use this to your advantage by taking out buildings using the Engineer's rocket-propelled grenade launcher.

Pin them down

Fire close to enemies hiding behind cover to suppress their fighting capabilities and buy yourself breathing space.

Staring down the barrel

Shotguns are excellent for CQC (Close Quarters Combat) in the tighter underground tunnel sections.

Less is more

Fire automatic weapons in short bursts for accuracy, and switch to single fire mode if you can.

Back-stabber

To grab your enemy's dog tags as a souvenir, perform a stealth kill by creeping up on them from behind and using the melee attack to wield your knife.

Gather your wits, download the Battlefield 3 Open Beta from PlayStation Store from 29 September 2011 and engage in war on PS3 at its most heart-pounding.
