PSP®

This website requires Flash Player 7 or higher.

It looks like you do not have this installed.

Visit the Adobe website to download the latest version of player..

Download the latest PSP system software version to take full advantage of all PSP has to offer.

In order to get the most out of your PSP, you should ensure that you are running the latest version of the PSP system software.

You can see what version of the system software your PSP is running by going to Settings on the XMB (XrossMediaBar) and selecting [System Settings]. Then, select System Information to view the current system software version.

System Update

You can update the system software for the PSP system using any of the methods listed below.

Update via Internet

1. Select Settings > [System Update]
You must have Memory Stick media inserted if you are using a PSP-1000/2000/3000 series system.

2. Select [Update via Internet]

3. Select the connection that you want to use
The system connects to the network using an access point. If you do not have a connection saved, select [New Connection] to create a connection.

4. Download the update data
When connected to the network, the system scans for the latest update data. Follow the on-screen instructions to download the update data and to start the update. If you do not want to update the system immediately after the download, you can do so later by selecting Settings > [System Update] > [Update via Storage Media] to install the update data.

5. Press the X button
The update process begins.

Options menu

If you press the Triangle button with a connection selected, the options menu will be displayed. From the menu, you can edit connection settings or delete the connection.

Connect: Connect to an access point.
Edit: Change connection settings.
Delete: Delete a network connection.
Information: View information about a network connection.

Update via Storage Media

Before starting, use your PC to create a folder named 'PSP' on the storage media. Within the folder, create a folder named 'GAME' and within this folder create another folder called 'UPDATE' (These folder names are case sensitive and must appear in all capital letters). Once the UPDATE folder has been created, download the PSP system software update to this location from eu.playstation.com.

1. Insert storage media to your PSP system

2. Select Settings > [System Update]
You must have Memory Stick media inserted if you are using a PSP-1000/2000/3000 series system.

3. Select [Update via Storage Media]
The system searches for update data. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the update.

Hints

  • Before starting the update process, check that the battery is charged. You may not be able to start an update if the battery charge level is low
  • The downloaded update data is saved in the system storage for PSP-N1000 series systems and on Memory Stick media for PSP-1000/2000/3000 series systems
  • After the update has been completed, you can delete the update data from the system storage or from Memory Stick media
