Everything you need to know about a new category of content available from PlayStation Store.

What is minis?

Downloadable from PlayStation Store, this minis category contains a broad range of smaller, snackable games for PSP and PlayStation 3 that are quick to download, easy to pick up and play and perfectly suited to any time or any situation.

How long do the games take to download?

This will vary depending on the title and is largely dependent on your internet connection. However, minis have a maximum file size of 100MB, so downloads should not take long at all.

How much will they cost?

Like much of the content on PlayStation Store, pricing is determined by the publisher and start from AUD$1.95 adn NZD$2.35.

How regularly will new games be added?

The rate and regularity of updates going forward is, once again, largely dependent on publishers and there will be new games published regularly.

What kind of games are there?

The diverse collection of minis titles come from a huge range of developers and covers all sorts of genres, from sport to strategy. Dynogems and Cubixx provide some great puzzle action, Ice Road Truckers sees you deliver supplies across treacherous frozen lakes while Route 66 will take you on an exciting motorbike adventure across America.

Does the minis category include any recognisable titles?

Among the addictive puzzles and challenging quests are some retro classics, so there really is something for everyone. Titles such as Tetris (PSP only) and Sudoku are available to download, providing hours of entertainment.

Will we ever see user-generated content released via minis?

One of the factors making minis possible is the lower cost of development on PSP. This opens up the platform to smaller development teams; however, these teams are still made up of professional game developers.

Is minis available on all PSP systems?

Yes, minis launched alongside PSPgo in October 2009 and are available on all PSP systems, providing you have a memory stick, access to a Wireless Internet connection and a Sony Entertainment Network account.

Are minis available on PS3 systems?

Most minis are available to download straight to PS3 from PlayStation Store. If you have previously downloaded a minis title onto your PSP, you can access PlayStation Store via your PS3 and download the same game again, free of charge.
